Are Carrots Fattening?

Ever wondered if carrots are fattening?  Perhaps dipped in all that ranch dressing they are, but by themselves, they are considered to be a dieters friend.

The USDA reports that one cup of fresh and chopped carrots offers about 50 calories.  There is also one gram of fat per one cup serving. This is hardly the composition of a fattening food.

Carrots are low in fat and calories, making them a great source of nutrition for those who are trying to cut their calories and lose weight. Carrots are also rich in fiber, especially for their low calorie base.  They fill you up for longer periods of time than most other vegetables.

While carrots can be prepared using a lot of fattening products, they are not fattening when eaten by themselves.  Adding butter, milk based sauces, cheese or other fattening products can boost the calories and fat per serving.  If you are trying to lose weight and watch what you eat, it is recommended that you stay away from the fattening add-ons.

Carrots can be steamed or eaten raw.  They are highly versatile, which makes them a very convenient and popular snack.  Raw carrots can be packed with you to work and eaten throughout the day because they are so easy to package and transport.  Carrots are a dieters friend.

Carrots are not fattening and can be munched on in between meals without causing any problems to your weight loss efforts.
