Does Fiber Make You Poop?

Yes, fiber does make you poop if eaten in excess, but it can also regulate you to eliminate waste on a consistent and healthy schedule. If you consume too much fiber in your diet, you will feel the urge to go to the bathroom more often than if you didn’t consume any.  You should eat finer in your foods, or as a supplement, but both will have the same effect. They both cause you to eliminate excess waste and rid your body of a lot of toxins.

If you are battling constipation and not going to the bathroom on a regular basis, upping the fiber in your diet can do the trick. Fiber works as a laxative that causes you to rid waste at a much faster rate than if you consumed no fiber in your diet. The FDA recommends 30 grams of fiber a day for women and 39 grams a day for men. On average, Americans consume a mere 15 grams of dietary fiber a day. This doesn’t even meet 50% of the recommended daily allowance.

You should eat fiber if you suffer from constipation, bloating or cramping due to digestive issues. Fiber causes food to be digested at a quicker rate and keeps things moving through the digestive tract, including the small and large intestine. If you want to poop regularly, fiber is where it’s at!
