How Many Carbs In Spinach?

In one cup of Spinach there is only one gram of carbs!  That is hardly any carbs!

Fresh Spinach is one of the best vegetables you can eat.  Not only does it supply your body with the right nutrition, but offers fiber, vitamins and hardly any carbohydrates. Fresh Spinach and baby Spinach yield the same number of carbs and calories.  One Spinach leaf offers about 0.15 carbs, a half-cup of fresh Spinach leaves offers about 0.5 grams of carbs and so on.  Spinach contains fiber, hardly any carbs and very few calories making it one of the best foods to eat when trying to lose weight and restrict your carb intake.

Spinach is best eaten raw.  While there are not a lot of carbs or calories found in canned Spinach, the fresher the vegetable the better it is for your body. In a one cup serving size of canned Spinach there are about 8 grams of carbs.  The difference between canned Spinach and fresh Spinach is that there is sugar added to the canned Spinach to keep it preserved.  The sugar contributes to the amount of carbs found in the canned Spinach and causes the count to rise.
If you are trying to lose weight, the best way to eat your Spinach is to consume fresh and raw Spinach leaves and avoid canned and frozen.
