How Many Carbs In Oatmeal?

Oatmeal is considered a healthy breakfast food that is rich in vitamins, fiber, nutrients and other diet friendly ingredients.  If you are restricting your carbohydrate intake it might be helpful to know just how many carbs are in oatmeal.

Oatmeal is considered to be a carb friendly food, however, it does contain some degree of carbohydrates.  Most low-carb diets severely restrict carb intake, and if you are on a carb-restrictive diet, oatmeal may not be allowed. In one bowl of natural and home-made oatmeal (not the processed, pre-packaged and instant stuff) there are 30 grams of carbs.  That is a lot of carbs if you are restricting the count.  Atkins and other carb-restrictive diets do not allow for this number of carbs when on their meal plans.

However, if you are not following a carb restricted diet, you can enjoy the many health benefits of a bowl of oatmeal.  The carbs found in oatmeal are complex and not refined like those found in sugar and processed foods.  Complex carbohydrates are good for heart health and bringing a persons blood sugar level under control.

Oatmeal is highly recommended for those who are trying to lose weight and want to do it the healthy and natural way.  Now that you know how many carbs are in oatmeal, you can make your decision to eat it based on your preferred diet plan.
