How Many Carbs In A Cucumber?

Looking for the nutritional scoop on Cucumbers?  Wondering how many carbs are in a cucumber and if it a recommended choice for weight loss?  Below you find the details, from carbs to sugar.

One medium-sized peeled Cucumber offers 4.35 carbs.  This number is derived from the sugars found in the cucumber and the fiber content. In this same sized Cucumber there are about 2.75 grams of sugar and 1.4 grams of fiber.  The net carb count is 4.35.  Cucumbers are considered to be extremely low in carbs and recommended as a great source of vitamins and nutrients for those trying to lose weight.

The peel on a Cucumber adds a lot of carbs.  Most people peel their Cucumber before eating it, however, you can slice Cucumber and eat it with the peel still on.  One standard sized Cucumber with the peel on yields a total of 11 grams of carbs.  This is nearly three times more carbs than the peeled Cucumber.

If you are trying to reduce your carb intake and keep the sugar level low it is best to peel your Cucumbers rather than leaving it on.  You will cut the carb intake considerably if you remove the peeling off your Cucumber.

Cucumbers provide a healthy snack that is rich in vitamins and antioxidants.  Cucumbers can be prepared in salads or eaten by themselves with a dash of sea salt and spritz of Balsamic Vinegar.
