There’s nothing quite like biting down into a juicy hamburger. Many people on low carb diets are still enjoying hamburger patties without the added carbs in the bread. So how many calories in a hamburger patty are there? The answer is between 165-280 calories depending on how lean the hamburger is. This calorie count is based on the average 4 ounce serving size.
Hamburger comes in a variety of fat contents from 75% lean all the way to 95% lean. One 95% lean patty has 165 calories in it along with 26 grams of protein, 6 grams of fat and zero carbohydrates. That’s pretty good. Compare that to a 75% lean patty that comes in at 280 calories, 25.5 grams of protein, and 19 grams of fat. That’s not so good.
So what about fast food hamburger patties? One McDonald’s regular hamburger patty has just 90 calories in it to go with 7 grams of fat and 8 grams of protein. The calorie content is so low because they patty is quite small. The meat in McDonald’s patties is not quality given how the fat to protein ratio. The 95% lean patty had only 6 grams of fat and 26 grams of protein. Compare that to the McDonald’s patty that has 7 grams of fat and just 8 grams of protein. The calorie count may be lower, but the beef is much more inferior. The lower count is due to the fact that it’s only about half the size.
