How Many Calories In A Glass of Champagne?

Ringing in the New Year, celebrating the engaged couple, or just plain having fun, ever wondered how many calories are in a glass of champagne?

In one standard sized glass of champagne there are approximately 90 calories.  A standard sized champagne glass holds about 4 ounces of bubbly if you have two or three glasses at a time, you can end up consuming up to 270 calories or more.

Champagne is an alcoholic drink that is not too heavy on calories, although most people find themselves adding it to high caloric juices, like orange juice, and racking up a lot more calories.  Champagne does not include any fat, but does have about 1 gram of carbohydrates in a regular sized champagne glass.

There are a number of brands and champagne varieties, but most contain about the same number of calories.  A good rule-of-thumb is to remember that for every ounce of champagne there are about 20 calories, give or take a few depending on the brand.  If you add juice or soda, several calories can be added into the mix.  One champagne sunrise, consisting of orange juice and champagne, yields about 150 calories.  The calorie content can change depending on the ration of juice and champagne used.

If you are trying to cut calories, go easy on the champagne.  One glass is plenty, unless you are celebrating something BIG!
