Chocolate Glazed Donuts are certainly in the “bad” category of foods, but just how bad are these sinfully good donuts? Let’s take a look at how many calories are in a chocolate glazed donut.
There are mainly three types of chocolate glazed donuts consumed by people – from the store bakery, Krispy Kreme, and Dunkin’ Donuts. The typical store bakery chocolate glazed donut has 270 calories and 7 grams of fat. That’s not too bad actually if you just eat the one donut. Chances are you’ll probably enjoy the donut with a sugary latte or some juice. Even if you consume the donut by itself you are eating 270 empty calories with no nutritional value. This results in feeling hungry in about 90 minutes.
Krispy Kreme donuts swept onto the scene in the 1990′s and were an instant hit. The typical chocolate glazed Krispy Kreme has a very similar profile to that of the store bakery donut. It has 260 calories, 12 grams of fat, and 40 carbs. The calorie count is less, but everything else is up.
Dunkin’ Donuts also has a popular chocolate glazed donut. It has 250 calories, 10 grams of fat, and 37 grams of carbs. It’s basically the same as the other two varieties.
You can buy reduced fat and even fat free chocolate donuts in stores. While they do not taste nearly as good you can still get your donut fix and walk away relatively unscathed. Reduced fat chocolate donuts have about 150 calories while the fat free have 60-100.
