How Many Calories Are In A Blueberry Muffin?

Blueberry Muffins sound healthy, but taste many of them and you’ll realize they are basically just like cake with pieces of blueberries in them. Especially those over sized ones you can pick up at the warehouse super store that can barely fit in your hand. So how many calories are in a blueberry muffin anyway?

Of course it depends on the type you’re eating, but most people indulge in the variety that are not healthy. So to answer the question, there are 390 calories in one large blueberry muffin. And to make matter worse, there are over 20 grams of fat and over 70 grams of carbs to go along with the 390 calories. You might as well go eat a piece of chocolate cake or something.

There are much healthier versions of blueberry muffins out there that are much smaller in size and less dense in terms of calories. Healthier box mixes that require just water to make them can be fairly low calorie. Those type of muffins can have about 110-130 calories each. You can still enjoy a blueberry muffin now and again, but make sure it’s only on occasion and definitely skip the large cake ones.

If you’re going to indulge in a blueberry muffin try to consume a lean protein source with it such as an egg white omelet to help control blood sugar levels and keep you feeling full.
