Do Prenatal Vitamins Make You Gain Weight?

You are now pregnant, experiencing the joys of awaiting a new child but concerned that those horse pills are causing you to gain some pounds. Many women wonder do prenatal vitamins make you gain weight?

The answer is most likely no.  It is the amount of calories you are consuming combined with the baby weight you are gaining.  Your body is changing, but it is most likely not a result of the prenatal vitamins.

Prenatal vitamins do not contain anything that would cause you to gain weight. They contain a lot of additional vitamins and nutrients that are needed to provide you with the energy and nutrients needed to keep you healthy and your baby vital for growth and development.  It is not the vitamins that are causing you to gain weight.

If you are gaining a lot of extra weight early on in your pregnancy, you may need to evaluate what foods you are regularly eating.  Also, pay attention to the number of calories you are consuming and make sure that you are not overdoing it.  It may be easy to blame the extra weight on the vitamins, but in fact, it is the food you are consuming.

So, now you have the truth that prenatal vitamins do not make you gain weight, but the extra calories, reduced exercise and fatty foods may be the culprit.
