In order to lose one pound of fat you need to burn an additional 3500 calories. This means that you burn off more than your body requires to survive and you burn off more calories than you take in.
There are a variety of healthy ways to do this, most commonly through a good diet filled with healthy food choices and exercise. However, there are alternative ways to shed a few pounds. For example, you can lose weight in a steam room, but do not plan on losing a lot of weight.
A sauna or a steam room can be effective in losing water weight, but not necessarily fat. Steam rooms can rid your body of toxins, viruses, metals and unhealthy exposures to the environment but should not be implemented into a diet or weight loss plan. You will not shed fifty pounds by going to the steam room everyday! At the very least, you may lose a pound or two of water weight, which causes bloating and puffiness, but you will not shed fat in the steam room.
People trying to lose weight often go to desperate measures to rid the fat, but the steam room is not the place to do it. You will only be disappointed when the scale drops one pound because of the sweat you lost, only to gain that pound back once you drink some water.
