Calories In Dark Chocolate

There are 150 calories in one ounce of dark chocolate. In one small square of dark chocolate there are about 30 calories.

Dark chocolate is considered to be the healthiest choice when it comes to chocolate.  Calories in dark chocolate is relatively lower than milk chocolate and contains a large number of naturally occurring antioxidants. While there may be more nutritional value in dark chocolate, it should still be eaten in moderation, especially if you are trying to cut calories from your diet.
Hersheys Kisses are a popular chocolate snack and come in a dark chocolate variety.  If you are trying to reduce the number of calories you consume, eating a few kisses is a great way to keep calories low while treating your sweet tooth.  In 4-5 kisses there are about 50 calories. That is not a lot of calories, but the key is to keep the calories in dark chocolate low by not overeating.

One small Hershey Bar square is about 30 calories.  Most people eat more than one square at one sitting, so it is important to consume a small amount, rather than overdoing it.  If you overdo, you can consume nearly 400 calories.  This is easy to do if you eat the entire bar (weighing 2.6 ounces). Dark chocolate is a good option to chocolate because it is lower in calories than most varieties, but dont overdo if you are trying to lose weight.
